Sounds firmware related, however Denon is likely not going back to fix a problem with this controller since it's no longer made. The buttons and knobs actually DO the correct thing which I didn't realize until last night they just cause the sampler portion in the default skin to display incorrect info. I'm becoming rather disappointed with the fact that this isn't functioning as advertised and that I'm not getting useful responses from Denon. However, reading the previous comments had me check the "CF MODE" button and neither the audio nor the video light is lit up. I did confirm that it is not disabled in the options menu. Thanks for your input!

As directed I tried loading the Denon skin, but it's unusable for my personal style and did nothing to solve my problem. What it boils down to japping that ALL of the default mappings aren't actually responding the way they should. I just wanted to report back that everything is working now. There are two sets of 4 buttons and knobs on either side that correspond to 4 foor parameters and with a locking "shift" type button they are they mapped to 4 sample slots. I can't really offer any mapping assistance until I see what is in there, otherwise it is just guessing about the problem.
However, reading the previous comments had me check the "CF MODE" button and neither the audio nor the video light is lit up. Can anyone provide any more ideas or clues please? Posted Tue 15 May 12 I tried disabling the crossfader and then re-enabling the crossfader to see if that would trigger something, but nothing happened. I had restarted windows before but I hadn't turned the controller off prior before.
This was confirmed in both VDJ and midi mapping software. I found that if you close VDJ, however leave the controller connected to the computer Either Mac or PCand power off the MC power button on the back and then power jc3000 back on, it works perfectly for as long as you need to use it.
Denon MC Mapping Problem. On the right side the same button controls the video effect.

Maybe there's something I'm missing with the way that VDJ works, but as I understand it the mappings correlate to VDJ functions, not point to places on the skin. I am running windows 10, however the old version that I was using on windows 10 had it working.
The left video preview will flash but the transition is not triggered. Sounds firmware related, however Denon is likely not going back to fix a problem with this controller since it's no longer made. The video transition button is on the left when effects are being controlled by the MCbutton viirtual 4. I own a Dnon I was hoping that someone else had come across this and would be able to offer a simple fix.
I understand the default mapping for the MC and it looks like it makes sense, but I'm having no luck getting it to operate as advertised.
Forum: Old versions
I can get audio to come out but it is muffled and does not work based on the faders and the such. An individual control would be a browse knob as there is only one on the whole device. Posted Fri 19 Aug 16 1: The video transition button is a dual side setup. Posted Wed 16 May 12 All it took was turning off the controller, restarting the PC, and booting back into windows, then turning on the controller, then starting up VDJ8. Of course that is a simple thing but sometimes we forget to do the simple stuff first!

The buttons and knobs on the controller are actually functioning correctly it turns out, but the display isn't, which can be pretty disconcerting in the middle of a set.
