Take a chance the probability of it working is around percent. It is possible though that this code is different between the two versions, I suggest going over to the codebreaker site and asking them about it.

I first compiled it without "link incrementally" option, but it crashed while playing Hamtaro just before you learn the first vochams. In the Windows version I added the option "Hamtaro Hack" in the Cheats menu, so the hack can be desactivated.
